MIR was chartered as a Russian non-profit charity in the fall of 2000; MIR is not an American charity, though sometimes people may assume that. Over the years, MIR has expanded and has partnered with charities, individuals and churches from the USA, Canada, Scotland, Australia, France and Holland. Each year MIR helps over 200 people come on short-term trips, transfers funds for humanitarian aid, and oversees on-going programs.
The most important part of our work is the relationships that are formed. The tasks we do are secondary to our relationships with one another and with our partners overseas. We hope to be an example of a well-run, professional organization that acts out of loving, merciful motivations. We exist to help others do what they are called to do in Russia. We are here to serve.
MIR has a board of directors consisting of both Russians and Americans. Our staff is Russian, with foreign volunteers helping in many ways.
